Dr. Moana Gelu-Simeon MD, PhD, HDR

Biography

Professor Moana Gelu-Simeon, MD, PhD, HDR, is a hepatologist and Associate Professor at the University of the French West Indies and serves as Head of the Hepato-Gastroenterology Department of the University Hospital of Guadeloupe. She has led research programs on chronic liver diseases and liver cancer in the French Overseas Territories, with a focus on environmental determinants and disease modeling. More recently, she has developed innovative research in artificial intelligence for digestive oncology, including the configuration, validation, and clinical integration of AI-based real-time detection models for colorectal cancer screening during colonoscopy. She coordinates regional and national multicenter research projects and promotes the integration of AI into clinical research and medical education. She has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and regularly presents her work at international conferences. She actively promotes interdisciplinary collaboration integrating clinical medicine, data science, and translational research.
