Trend of Cancer Mortality in Grenada: A Ten-Year Retrospective Analysis

Cancer remains a major public health concern worldwide, accounting for a significant proportion of deaths caused by non-communicable diseases. In the Caribbean region, including Grenada, limited population-level data have hindered a comprehensive understanding of cancer mortality trends over time.

Newly registered Breast Carcinoma Cases at the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre (SLBMC) (2019–2022), Antigua and Barbuda: A Clinicopathological Review

Breast cancer (BC) remains the most common malignancy affecting women globally. It presents challenges in LMICs like Antigua and Barbuda, where late presentation, limited screening capacity, and inequitable access to treatment often compromise outcomes. This study, therefore, assesses the clinico-pathological and epidemiological characteristics of newly diagnosed BC cases at the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre (SLBMC) between 2019 and 2022.

Paediatric Cancer 2024 Year in Review at a Public Hospital in St. Lucia

To determine the incidence, prevalence and demographics of paediatric malignancies during a one year period at a public hospital in St. Lucia.  To evaluate the deficiencies in diagnostic and therapeutic modalities, while managing paediatric malignancies in St. Lucia.

Epidemiological Profile of Cancer in the Pijao Indigenous Population in Colombia: A 20-Year Analysis

To characterize the epidemiological profile of cancer in the Pijao indigenous population enrolled in an Indigenous Health Provider (EPSI, according to the spanish abbreviation) between 2002 and 2022.

Therapeutic Mobilities and Cancer in Vanuatu, Oceania

According to the Vanuatu Health Sector Strategy 2021-2030, non-communicable diseases such as cancer are a significant problem in the archipelago. The most common cancers are reported to be breast, liver, cervical, prostate and thyroid.

Evaluating the Utility of a Commercial Polygenic Risk Score for Prostate Cancer in a Caribbean Population

Prostate cancer is the leading cancer among men in the Caribbean, yet early detection is limited by underrepresentation in genomic research and the invasive nature of standard screening methods, which many men avoid. This study aimed to evaluate the clinical utility of a commercial polygenic risk score (PRS) for stratifying prostate cancer risk in a predominantly African ancestry population from Bermuda

Comorbidities and Risk of Head and Neck Cancer in the French West Indie

Several chronic inflammatory and infectious conditions have been linked to an increased risk of various cancers. While the association between head and neck squamous cell carcinomas (HNSCC) and HPV infection is well established, it remains unclear whether similar associations exist with other medical conditions. We aimed to investigate the association between personal medical history and head and neck cancer (HNC) in the French West Indies (FWI).

Deep learning model applied to Real-Time Delineation of Colorectal Polyps

Mapping stakeholders for cancer research implementation in Eastern Caribbean: a descriptive study to inform the CaSIDEC study

High cancer mortality in small island developing states (SIDS) is compounded by the insufficient evidence from local epidemiological studies. Stakeholder engagement is particularly important in SIDS to ultimately drive these studies and cancer control. We aimed to map cancer control stakeholders as part of the development of the CaSIDEC study.
